Cost allocation is the organization’s method of allocating costs to its programs and supporting services to the extent each program or service bears its fair share in accordance with the relative benefits received. The organization’s defined method of allocation should be simple, straightforward, and comply with its approved policies and procedures. Using the Uniform Guidance regulations, we will review allowable methods of cost allocation including direct costing and indirect cost rates and discuss suggestions on how your organization may use cost allocation to run more efficiently and effectively.

The CSBG Organizational Standards represent important minimum thresholds to ensure Community Action Agencies have the needed capacity to serve America’s communities. The full implementation of the principles and practices articulated in the Organizational Standards assures a consistent and strong CSBG network. This session will provide an overview of the Organizational Standards, their requirements, available resources, and how-to tips and tricks for meeting standards (and documenting them!)

Today’s operating environment has grown in complexity and, too often, our planning processes haven’t kept up. Does your strategic plan implementation need some improvement? If so, this session is for you! You’ll learn specific tools to take your organization’s strategic plan implementation to the next level including project management techniques, monitoring, and tracking necessities, and other implementation strategies. These techniques and strategies will elevate your ability to measure, track, communicate, and align what matters most in order to drive improved results for your agency and those you serve.

America’s communities need and deserve excellent Community Action Agencies. Every organization can improve, and should continuously strive to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and to exceed expectations. In this session we will explore what excellence means in Community Action as defined by the 35 Standards of Excellence, and discuss strategies for strengthening your agency, including through the National Community Action Partnership’s Pathways to Excellence program.

Do your eyes roll over at the mere mention of the words “strategic planning?” Do plans seem to disappear after planning sessions? Many of us aren’t doing strategic planning particularly well, but we could be. In this workshop, you’ll learn the individual and organizational benefits of fact-based strategic planning, how to design a planning process that meets your agency’s needs, and the five steps of a planning process that will lead your agency towards social change. You may even leave excited to lead your next planning process!

The session will consist of an introduction to the idea of data integration, including the purpose of data integration as well as descriptions of the 8 primary aspects of data integration with an emphasis on building the foundation for effective use of data from multiple sources. We will our remaining time on developing a set of organizational knowledge needs and the current state data governance, input, and integration. We discuss the current state around each of the areas of emphasis (1) knowledge needs, (2) data governance, (3) data input, and (4) data integration.

Human trafficking- both sex and labor trafficking- is a local, state, national and global epidemic that is often hiding in plain sight in our communities. This presentation is to inform community-based organizations (CBOs) on the nature of the problem, provide guidance on the signs, symptoms and indicators of trafficking, and provide suggestions and resources to provide help and safety for victims.   Register Here

Just as community action agencies connect their community assessments to strategic planning, risk assessments provide a foundation for planning as well. All three are required, but how are they all connected? This session will review the components of both types of assessments and how they can support a holistic agency-wide strategy at the family, community and agency levels.
